A Course in Numerical Linear Algebra
With the advent of the World Wide Web, the means by which information and knowledge is disseminated has dramatically changed. No longer is the primary resource for a course the textbook that is purchased, backed up by notes and a wealth of resources available at the campus library. More often, the first media to which students turn is the WWW where web pages are consulted, as well as electronic books, and, more recently, wiki's. From Wikipedia (provided the entry hasn't been edited): "A wiki is a collaborative website which can be directly edited by anyone with access to it."
By this definition, we are abusing the concept of a wiki, since for the moment we do not allow anyone who accesses the {:www.linearalgebrawiki.org: Linear Algebra Wiki] to edit it. Perhaps in the future, once it is well established, we will change this.
In this particular part of this wiki, we are trying something a bit different. The problem, in our opinion, with a wiki like Wikipedia is that it stores knowledge, but does not provide the visitor with a path through the information. This course, embedded in the Linear Algebra Wiki, is meant to provide one introduction to the knowledge gathered in the wiki.
