Hi,
i just tried to run NERO on my debian/unstable system, but all i got was:
Code:
$ ./nero.bin
./nero.bin: symbol lookup error: ./nero.bin: undefined symbol: X11_KeyToUnicode

I got it to run by copying an older libSDL-1.2.so.0 into the game directory and adjusting LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
So *please* release a repack of the linux client, that also includes the libSDL you linked and a start script like
Code:
#!/bin/sh

cd "`dirname $0`"
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=".:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH"
exec ./nero.bin

Thanks.

according to this mail X11_KeyToUnicode is an internal symbol that should not be used by applications.

Try these libs: http://mensa.ath.cx/~siegl/tmp/nero_libs.tbz2
(libSDL-1.2.so.0 & libopenal.so from ubuntu dapper, they are working for me...)

Thanks for trying out the build - sorry it didn't work for you. It would be helpful to use if you posted the output of "uname -a" on your machine.

Same here on Gentoo.

And I can confirm what is written in that mail mentioned above. X11_KeyToUnicode shouldn't be used.

We believe this is an issue with the Torque engine - they use a non-exported function X11_KeyToUnicode which does not appear in SDL dynamic libraries. Our next release should address this issue.
