It is possible to send faxes via the fax machine in the Gracs lounge even you do not have a long distance code. If you have a long distance code, you can use the directions posted on the sign above the fax machine. It is possible, however, to send a fax via that machine using a personal long distance calling card (i.e. kind you purchase at convenience stores). Below are directions that have worked for me on several occasions, but your mileage may vary depending on the specifics for making calls with your card.
- Place the document you wish to fax face down in the feeder for the fax machine
- Pick up the phone near the fax machine and dial '9' followed by the 800 number for making calls with your calling card
- Following the normal directions for your calling call, place a call to the number you wish to fax (for my card this involves typing in a PIN then the number you wish to fax)
- When you hear the fax machine tone coming out of the receiver, press the 'Send' button on the fax machine
- After the fax machine display indicates it has started to fax, hang up the receiver for the phone
- The fax machine should display the number of pages sent when the document has been successfully sent
